Nurburgring and Spa Euro Trip - 10-12th May 2008

Overview

A few Rebel Motorsport Club members decided to plan a Euro Trip; a trip that would take them to the world famous Nurburgring (Germany) as well as taking in a trip (and optional trackday) at the equally famous Spa Circuit (Belgium).

I am now happy to be able to provide further details for this Event!

Many thanks to Craig for coming up with the plan!

Information

Please read the following information carefully. If you are serious about joining us then please ensure you also read the important booking information towards the foot of the page. The plans are...

Saturday - 10th May 2008

We will be departing early Saturday morning and taking the EuroTunnel over to Calais. Check-in closes at 07:20, departure is 07:50 - and a return fare is likely to cost in the region of £100 (provided you pre-book). Of course, you may wish to choose a different time to suit your own needs.

From Calais, we drive to the Nurburgring and spend the remainder of the day there (although people are free to do as they wish!) A lap of the 'Ring currently costs in the region of 21 Euros, but the price drops if you buy a 'block' of laps (say, 4 laps). Laps are paid for at the actual circuit when you are ready to go.

If you don't fancy driving the 'Ring it's not a problem. There's always plenty of eye-candy (usually) in terms of exotic cars - both on and off the track. That also means there are many great photo opportunities so have your camera at the ready. It's also enjoyable watching others drive the track - either those in our group or those who aren't.

The overnight stay is in Koblenz at the Hotel Contel (more information below). If you fancy a night out on the town then go for it; I am reliably informed there's a good night out to be had (just ask Craig... if he can remember anything yet...)

Sunday - 11th May 2008

Having left the hotel in the morning, we head back to the 'Ring for a few more laps. (Alternatively, you may wish to go sightseeing or do some other activity - the choice is yours). From here we drive to Spa in Belgium. Our hotel will be the Auberge du Wayai (more information below).

Monday - 12th May 2008

The Spa trackday!

If you would like to take part in the actual trackday the cost is £189.00 (unless you are a member of the Mitsubishi Lancer Register whereby the price is reduced to £169.00). Either way you can book the trackday through MLR or on 0845 12 526237.

Again, if you don't fancy spending the day at Spa (or want to do something else completely different) you can make your own plans instead.

The journey home will be in the evening, looking to return on EuroTunnel (check in by 21:50, departure at 22:20, arrival 21:55 - again, this is a guideline and you can choose your own schedule as required).

Hotel Details

 Hotel Contel - Koblenz

Saturday night will be spent at the Hotel Contel in Koblenz. This is a great hotel - that some of Rebel's members' are already familiar with - and the prices are pretty good, too. You are looking in the region of 70 Euros for the overnight stay.

The hotel has underground parking and plenty of available activities/places to visit for those who may not wish to spend all their time at the 'Ring.

 Auberge du Wayai - Spa

This hotel is near the Spa circuit and you are looking at around 70 Euros for the overnight stay.

  IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATION:

Although this is termed a 'Rebel Event' it is *your* responsibility to book your passage on Eurotunnel as well as booking your stay(s) in the hotels outlined above. It was deemed easier to do the bookings as individuals rather than arrange a mass booking.

However, when you do book the hotel rooms then please mention 'Rebel Motorsport Club' as we will look into the possibility of getting a Club discount of sorts.

The subject of safety... We will remind those attending that we do not condone/endorse racing and we fully expect attendees to be law-abiding and to drive responsibly. If you want to drive like an idiot and rag the nuts off your car then please take it elsewhere and leave the rest of us to enjoy the event!

Depending on the event it is quite possible we'll be attracting a lot of attention so please respect other road users and avoid excessive noise/speed in public and built-up areas. Also worth bearing in mind is the fact that there will potentially be lots of bikers, cyclists and horse-riders out sharing and enjoying the roads with us. You know the drill... be extra vigilant and keep checking your mirrors. Please keep it sensible.
