Rebel Wales Tour - 11th-13th September 2009

Information

What is the Tour about?

The Rebel Tour of Wales is an extended meet/drive for all those who enjoy driving fantastic roads in equally fantastic surroundings. It also provides ample opportunity for meeting new people who share a common interest in motoring and driving. Interested?

But I'm not a petrolhead!

Do not despair! The Wales Tour is more than just the driving. Many of our members bring their families and/or friends along for the ride - which is always great to see as we actively try to encourage a relaxed and leisurely schedule. Stopping at beauty spots, places of interest, visitor centres... there's a little bit of everything thrown in for good measure.

A few more details...

Whilst not officially part of the Tour, we realise there are a few attendees who have a considerable drive to simply get to the starting point for this Event (near Bridgend, South Wales). Where possible it is recommended that those people try and arrange an overnight stay local to the starting point. Contact us if you would like details of local places to stay - we're here to help.

A very brief overview of what to expect...

Friday 11th September 2009
Drive from South Wales up towards Mid-Wales using only the best driving roads. There will be stops for photographs, refreshment and re-grouping. Of course, you are more than welcome to make your own way to the hotel we have booked for the weekend should you wish to do so. There are some stunning views along the route as well as some very interesting roads...

Saturday 12th September 2009
Drive up to, and around, North Wales taking in the well-known Evo Triangle. Similar format to Friday but in different surroundings! Returning to the same hotel later for the second night stay. As always you are welcome to make your own arrangements for the day if you wish to do something else.

Sunday 13th September 2009
The drive home. We take a different (more direct) route back towards the South Wales area taking in more central places - Brecon, Abergavenny, Chepstow and further south still towards Cardiff. For those who don't live in South Wales, feel free to leave whenever you wish and by whichever route best suits your particular need!

Hotel Accomodation (Friday and Saturday night)

As in 2008, we will be staying for two nights at The Fronoleu Country Hotel. You can visit their website by clicking here. It's a good little hotel and an ideal place to relax, enjoy a good meal, share a few drinks and to rest for the night.

The good news is that we've negotiated a deal with the hotel and secured discounted prices for the rooms for the two nights. The savings are fantastic and apply to all whether it be double, family or single occupancy. More details on the discount and pricing can be seen by visiting the forum thread as linked at the end of this page.

Here's a little more information about the hotel - you can view larger versions of the images by clicking on them.

The subject of safety... We will remind those attending that we do not condone/endorse racing and we fully expect attendees to be law-abiding and to drive responsibly. If you want to drive like an idiot and rag the nuts off your car then please take it elsewhere and leave the rest of us to enjoy the event!

Depending on the event it is quite possible we'll be attracting a lot of attention so please respect other road users and avoid excessive noise/speed in public and built-up areas. Also worth bearing in mind is the fact that there will potentially be lots of bikers, cyclists and horse-riders out sharing and enjoying the roads with us. You know the drill... be extra vigilant and keep checking your mirrors. Please keep it sensible.
